9 Bids for (Cover Florida) Plan

 It is now a known fact that nine health insurance companies have submitted proposals to participate in Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s (R) new “Cover Florida” program.  This project is an effort to provide basic, low-cost health coverage to about 4.6 million uninsured Florida residents, The St. Pete times reports on this action.  Their reports stat that , “one statewide plan will be chosen and additional regional plans might be added to provide consumers with more options”.  We are finally moving along on this program.  How many of you think this program will really work?

    I wonder what is going on with this. A ton of talk with the Cover Florida programs. I’ll be happy to see once people are informed with the details of the programs. When will that happen?

    I don’t think anyone will know if it will work until we actually see the plans, understand how they are being marketing, and understanding the administrative components. These companies are going to have to put alot of time and effort into creating this new product line. They are going to need to train their people, train their agents, etc. It should be interesting watching the process unfold.

    It will be interesting to see how the whole plan turns out. How many of these 4.6 million residents do you think will take advantage of this plan? What percentage of these people actually care if they have coverage or not?

    I think its great that everyone who wants health insurance but can’t afford the high costs will finally be able to actually have health insurance! Believe me, there are a lot of us out there who really need health insurance but can’t afford it!
