Broward County Florida Questions Medicaid Pilot Program

Commissioners in Broward County, FL sent a report to state Legislature on Tuesday that it wishes to end its participation in a pilot program involving Medicaid. The program, which targeted five Florida counties, was reportedly responsible for delaying care as well as saving no noticable amount of money. The program was designed so that the state pays private insurers a set amount for covering a specific number of residents and the companies determine what benefits and coverage network they will offer. However, physicians had been rapidly dropping from the program, citing that administrative costs were jeapordizing the amount and quality of care that people could receive, to an unacceptable level. Florida legislature will now be left with the decision of eveluating the program and deeming that it should continue or be suspended. What are your thoughts?
