Crist May Need Other Options
The large stimulus package that Florida Governor Charlie Crist is basing his upcoming budget on, may not be passed after all. Many are in opposition of the bill, saying that it is bloated and will do nothing to actually stimulate the economy. While it may bailout a number of states in financial trouble, and plug a number of holes, it is expected to do very little to create jobs or stimulate economic growth. If the opposition to the stimulus bill manages to prevent its passage, what will Governor Crist do without that money he was banking on? A number of programs, including Medicaid, which provides health care to the needy, as well as Medicare for the elderly, are set to face severe budget cuts without the federal assistance. Is there a plan B for these programs?
