Tampa Health Insurance Lawmakers Fight for Medicaid

Lawmakers are eager to see the ushering in of a new era with President Elect Barack Obama in coming weeks. There is much to be excited about, as the fundamentals of the economy will be the primary concern, along with the reformation of the health insurance system. However, individual members of Congress all have their own agendas and personal goals. From Tampa, Florida Democratic Representative Kathy Castor plans to make her personal goal to fight for Florida’s fair share of Medicaid dollars. She is also focused on seeing the expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, designed to offer coverage for the thousands of Florida children who are without insurance coverage. Other Florida representatives are looking to increase benefits and support research for a variety of health insurance related topics. How successful do you think these endeavors will be, given the country’s open attitude toward reform and change?
