Failure in Florida Kid Care Program

Despite the feeling of hope and success as Obama passed legislation to expand the SCHIP program to insure the nation’s needy children, Florida faced criticism for failing to properly use the program as it stands. Thousands of qualified children were said to have not been enrolled in the program, leaving millions of federal dollars unused. Governor Crist has been accused of not taking full advantage of the program and needs to come up with funds to meet the match and get the most federal dollars available. Stumbling blocks for enrollment have included difficult paperwork processes and lengthy wait times for qualifying applicants. Do you think Crist will be able to improve access to the program and find money in the budget to meet the federal match and take full advantage of the funds available to Florida?
