Florida Employers Find Ways Not to Overburden Employees

In a time when emplyees’ budgets are already stretched dangerously thin with higher food, energy, and housing costs, many employers are finding ways not to pass on too much of their rising healthcare premiums on to their employees. While many companies are laying people off, they are still only raising the percentage of employee contributions by roughly 6 to 8 percent. Compared to times in the past when they were raised as much as 40 percent, this is pretty mild. Many companies are focusing on wellness and prevention by offering free programs to employees to encourage the management of chronic disease and the prevention of acute disease. If health care cost continue to rise, what other ways will employers find to limit the burden on their employees, or will they be forced to pass on this cost eventually?
