Florida Health Care Entrepenuer to Enter Reform Arena
Rick Scott, the co-founder and chairman of Jacksonville, FL-based Solantic LLC, has recently dived into the health care reform currently sweeping the nation. Scott is heading up Conservatives for Patients’ Rights which is a multimillion dollar ad campaign lobbying for free market health care reform instead of the government controlled reform which Obama is working toward. Scott says his campaign is based on the principles of choice, competition, accountability and personal responsibility and feels that reform should come without the government being in control. The Solantic founder obviously has stakes in the outcome of the health insurance industry reform, and has thrown in $5 million of his own money toward the campaign. The remainder has come from investors, as he is not currently set up to receive donations. Scott’s supporters say he is smart and passionate about healthcare, and he has many people on his side in this assault upon Obama’s reform movement. Do you think this will have an impact on Obama’s efforts in the coming year? What will be the outcome?

I think people like Scott will be at the table as health reform is developed. Please don’t ask what the outcome will be since3 at this stage only a hoped-for outcome could be voiced.
