Florida Health Insurance Debate Continues…

Well, there is only 51 days before the big Election Day.  It seems that Barack Obama and John McCain are tied with 45 percent support.  This recent poll showed that Floridians have our presidential candidates in a dead heat.  Have you heard them talking much about health insurance or health care reform?  I have watched nearly every bit of CNN and FOX news, but have yet to hear much about the real issues Americans face everday.  What has been your recent experience with the nominees of each party?

I haven’t heard either one of them talk about a darn thing besides each other. It would be nice if they could enlighten us on all this talk. After all, talk is cheap.

What I’ve heard is a while ago.

    McCain proposes among other things:

John McCain believes we can and must provide access to health care for every American. He has proposed a comprehensive vision for achieving that. For too long, our nation’s leaders have talked about reforming health care. Now is the time to act. While still having the option of employer-based coverage, every family will receive a direct refundable tax credit - effectively cash - of $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families to offset the cost of insurance. Families will be able to choose the insurance provider that suits them best and the money would be sent directly to the insurance provider. Those obtaining innovative insurance that costs less than the credit can deposit the remainder in expanded Health Savings Accounts.

Obama says: My plan begins by covering every American. If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums. That will be less. If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.”

    for details.

I guess they both get it. As is predicable McCain stresses the free marketplace and Obama seeks government regulation and programs.

Will either be a comprhensive solution?

    Hey, roll the dice.
