Florida Health Insurance High Risk Pool News

Jacksonville, Florida — There is a new florida health insurance high risk pool plan that is being offered to Floridians this week.  Individuals who have been uninsured  in the state for a pre-existing medical condition like heart disease, Type I diabetes, serious cancer or (HIV) AIDS.  That is if they want to pay the very high premiums being offered by this program. 

Florida residents can now apply for this Federal health insurance coverage through the new pre-existing condition insurance risk pool plan, also known as a the high-risk pool. This is the only new plan to go into place and to take effect under the new health insurance reform law.  How long can this high risk pool last with only 5 billion set aside for the entire United States?

This Florida health insurance plan is a very temporary fix should should help cover this high-risk group of individuals until the government opens up its pocket book in until Jan. 1, 2014, when a more permanent solution of out of control health care spending takes place.   The health insurance reform law take effect. In 2014, and all insurance carriers will no longer be able to exclude individuals that have pre-existing conditions, while a new health insurance exchange put together by the government, funded by insurance companies is expected to offer more affordable premiums for them.  We all know this is not going to happen.  They are already predicting that the exchanges will be 12% higher than the private market.  What do you think?
