Good News for Good News Care Center

The Good News Care Center in Florida City is set to receive a grant of $1.6 million from Babtist Health of South Florida. Babtist has long been the primary funding source of the center, and the current award will support ongoing operations and patient care services. The center is staffed by volunteer physicians as well as students in the health care field, and provide services to community citizens in need. The center provides no-cost healthcare to Dade county citizens who are uninsured, and in 2007 provided roughly $12 million in free care. How valuable and necessary are these types of centers to citizens throughout Florida and throughout the nation? Would they be able to survive without donations from companies such as Babtist Health?
