Health Insurance Experts Give Florida Some Input
Recent talks of expensive Florida state mandates have put health insurance experts into conversation. A new article reports that health experts are going to the defense of Charlie Crists’ Florida law. This law allows health insurance providers to offer health insurance coverage plans free of expensive mandates. How is this going to work? Aren’t these mandates in place for a reason?
Many think that this new law will not do to much to reduce the number of uninsured Florida residents. What do you think? Should Florida allow or not allow this law to move its course? Many individuals in the state are on the fence and really don’t know what to think. How can we come together to solve this current issue we are facing?

Yeah, I’m really not sure what to make of this entire state mandate thing. I’d like to revisit it once this law is passed and companies are playing with it more.

Band-aids only go so far= physically, politically and programatically. As if all of the current choices weren’t confusing enough. OK SO IF WE START AT $300/MO IN PREMIUM AND THEN reduce this benfit and that benefit and get down to $200/month what kind of coverage are we left with? Will I need what I’ve given up. It’s more like casino health care. A kind of take your chances approach all in the name of affordability. Surely we can do better.

What’s the point of any health insurance if it doesn’t cover you when you need it to? You might as well just be putting money in the bank in case of an emergency, rather than pay high premiums for little coverage.

What exactly are these state mandates? Do they only apply to employer sponsored group coverage because individual coverage already has limitations on things like maternity, etc. They need to lay out the specifics instead of dancing around general subject matter.

JohnF,
I think these mandates do relate to indiviudal plans. They are trying to strap insurance companies a bit more in adding more of these health insurance mandates.

Individual policies are already limited enough. If you decrease the benefits any more to reduce cost there will be nothing left.
