Healthcare System Often Fraught with Wasteful Spending

Unfortunately, the structure of our government healthcare programs means that areas with poor quality health are rewarded with more funds, leading to higher costs for lower quality healthcare. The more time a patient spends in the hospital, the more they are subject to medical error and negligence. The US pays more for its health care than almost any other comparable nation, and our mortality rate is much higher. Meaning we are spending lots of money and not getting what we are paying for. In some areas, like Minnesota, costs remain low while quality remains high. But in Florida, costs are high and quality is poor. Why is healthcare working in some areas and not others? How can we mimic areas that are successful in maintaining quality while keeping costs down?
