Individuals Much Less Satisfied with Health Insurance

A recent survey conducted by JD Power and Associates shows that individuals with private health insurance and insurance through small businesses are overall much less satisfied than people enrolled through a large company health plan. This is little suprise given the factors involved in the study including coverage and benefits, provider choice, information and communication, claims processing, customer service, and the approval process. The approval process is notoriously slow and difficult for people applying for an individual health insurance policy, with underwriting taking anywhere from 1 day, to a couple of months. It is also much easier to be denied when seeking coverage on your own, as opposed to a group policy where there is a large pool of people to share the risk. Often, there is very little effort involved in getting signed up for a plan through a large company, but people in small businesses and on their own might be lucky to even get coverage, and may have to pay handsomely for the privalege. Is there a way to bring some equality to the health insurance field, so that people do not have to work for a large corporation just to have decent health care?
