Lack of health insurance is the beginning of a troubling trend

According to CNN Money for the first time in more than 12 years the overall health care for American citizens has declined. Those insured through commercial and public health insurance plans has slipped. The trend in healthcare quality provided to those with private health insurance as well as in Medicare and Medicaid was practically dormant in 2008. One cause has been because employers and health care plans have taken their eye off of quality and are focusing on cutting down on costs. Do you agree that the quality of care has been put on the back burner by insurance companies and employers to help cut costs? What effect will this have on future generations?

  1. Kirsten Says:

Quality of healthcare depends on the provider.

Insurance companies do not affect the “quality” of health care. Employers are offering less benefit rich plans to their employees to reduce costs This is sometimes done to keep employees on the payroll and not lay them off. This is not an issue with generational effects. It is a symptom of an uncertain economic outlook and the current economic downturn. Adding massive national debt for national health insurance to our already bankrupt nation is a generational issue and can only be paid for through higher taxation on everyone.
