Loss of Insurance In Florida Near Top of List

The rate at which citizens are losing their health insurance in Florida is so rapid that is is only being outpaced by California and New York. The Center for American Progress released a study last month showing that a frightening number of Floridians were losing their health insurance, roughly 850 every day. This number has far reaching implications, particularly on tax payers, who must pick up the tab for the health care of those who no longer have coverage and must seek the aid of Medicaid and other similar public programs. While the Cover Florida Plans, designed by Charlie Crist in conjuntion with several private insurance companies, are intended to help many of these people acquire affordable coverage without being forced to relay on taxpayer dollars, do they really do enough? Or are they falling short?
