Obama Working Toward Health Insurance Reform
Obama continues to make health care a focus of his administration after health insurance industry leaders announce a plan to save $2 trillion dollars over the next 10 years by eliminating inefficiencies and wasted spending. However, critics call the proposal vague and unenforceable and offering no guarantee of actual savings. Without a clear plan, it will be difficult for Congress to pay for new initiatives to cover the uninsured. However, the announcement did demonstrate Obama’s promise that he would not be using force to control the health insurance industry, rather that he would woo them and secure their cooperation in a full scale reshaping of the nation’s health care system. Do you think this tactic will work better than brute force?

If by brute force you mean such tactics as legislating how much banks (who have received no federal TARP dollars but admittedly do enjoy the benefits of the FDIC, Fed discount window etc and have for years) can compensate their executives then in the long run he better using wooing. These kinds of moves will leave no wealthy persons around to be taxed to pay for all of this largesse and power grab. I expect to see cases before the Supreme Court before long if this government doesn’t stand down.
