Republicans on Two Sides of the Debate
Of the group of Republicans who voted almost unanimously against Obama’s recent stimulus package, most notable may be Bobby Jindal of Louisiana who has flat out refused the stimulus for his state and has made Louisiana the first state to do so. On the other side of the coin is Republican Charlie Crist, Governor of Florida, who went as far as to campaign for the stimulus with Obama as it worked its way through Congress last month. Crist feels that firstly, the money is needed, and secondly, that given the number of tax dollars Florida sends to D.C, that the state ought to see some of it come back. Do you feel that the stimulus package was the right thing for our country, and for the state of Florida to help with health care and education specifically, or are the Republicans correct in opposing it?
